While parking lots to nature is a strange term, “Same Speed
– Different Places” deals with just that. Lots that
simultaneously act as car-holders and portals to our
regional wilderness however cultured that may be. The lots
manifest of multiple incarnations of the term “nature”;
from the basic dichotomy of Culture and Nature, via the
romantic ideas of beholding the splendor to commenting on a
culture of entertainment and experience.
After reading the curator’s story :"I
stayed in the car", I decided to borrow Her family’s
car. I drove from Copenhagen towards Jutland, with the
final destination being a parking lot I recall from my own
childhood. On my way back from there I visited 25 parking
lots to nature. I filmed each parking lot with a special
camera mount device that turns with a constant speed.
